In the current economic environment is it any wonder that people are looking at alternatives to the conventional day job? There are many reasons why people look to working online as a means of income and it is important to recognise these reasons before entering into any online business.
It is a minefield out there. So many products promising hundreds or even of thousands of dollars overnight. Desperate people are easy prey and often get sucked in to these sales pitches only to find that it takes a lot of work and more money. I am the classic case of this scenario but fortunately I have managed to find way through and have started to generate some money.
Fundamental to any business is planning, tenacity and organisation. Even if you were to purchase the best software on the market it is unlikely that you would see success if you do have an achievable plan that you stick to. When considering strategies to make money online I believe that is is important to first look at how you will realistically apply yourself. These are the first questions I ask clients if I am asked to recommend and help implement a workable online business.
1) How Much Time Do You Have? In order to answer this you need to keep a diary of your movements for a week. Include social outings , recreation, anything that keeps you away from your computer really. If you don’t generally get home until 8 pm and are back at work at 8 am when can you really put time in to your business?
2) Do You Have Money? Yes, there are strategies to earn online without a lot of money but if you understand your own situation you can make a decision based on what will work for you. The last thing you want is to put yourself under further financial stress if you are doing this to make additional income.
3)What Are You Good At? What Do You Enjoy? This helps you to understand what you may succeed with. Personally, I enjoy writing so article marketing and blogging has become part of my arsenal but you may be different. By choosing something that you enjoy you are more likely to feel a sense of accomplishment rather than a dread of what you are about to do.
4)Make A Plan You need to set long and short term goals that are realistic, break them down into manageable steps and then further into tasks. This way you can check off things when they are done and you will always feel that your goal is getting closer.
I use SMART goal planning and it makes the long term goals seem a bit more manageable.
I have my own suite of tools which I use every day and I have one forum Bring The Fresh, where I go to learn the right way to work in internet marketing. That is what I do and it is working, I now want to share it with others and stop them from making the mistakes I have over the years.
